The most important career skills aren't necessarily technical or competency based.

Having the ability to communicate effectively, negotiate conflict, work well in teams and be adaptable to the ever-changing needs of a dynamic market are essential and valuable skills to organizations. People who have these soft skills are better able to understand and accurately convey the business value of projects to other less involved, time poor, senior executive stakeholders, and therefore get their buy-in and support and deliver more successful projects.
